Connectivism by Siemans

I like that the author is updating knowledge theories because times have changed! I agree with his “shrinking half-life of knowledge.” Historically information lasted for decades and now it is measured in months and years before the new edition comes out with Pluto being revered as a downgraded ball of ice. Also, conventional theories, behaviorism, cognitivism and constructivism have limitations when applied to today’s world. He comes up with seven questions that are good to think about in relation to conventional theories and proposes an alternative theory. He says, “Learning is not entirely under the control of the individual,” kind of the chaos of today. Connectivism brings into play more connections such as social media and fast moving information. It also addresses the search for information and the decisions it takes to choose to learn something in particular, because in this world there is an overabundance of info out there.
