“Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age” talks about the changing digital world where information is now all available to everyone online. In the past a person could learn a job and reasonably expect that knowledge to be applicable for the rest of their career. Now, human knowledge is changing at such as speed-a ‘half life’- that knowledge can become absolute in a manner of months or years. It is also becoming more and more impossible for any one person know everything. Instead, human knowledge is now compiled for everyone to access, the way that people learn needs to change. So instead of compiling knowledge, people now need to learn how to acquire knowledge. The skill set needed by a learner now is knowing where to access knowledge, rather than the skills to absorb that knowledge themselves.
